John Stroup Dies at 48

Services for John J. Stroup, 48, Pendleton, Ore., a former Payette resident who died Friday in Pendleton, were held Tuesday at Burns Mortuary chapel in Pendleton by Dr. Myron Nichols. Military honors and interment were Tuesday at Riverside cemetery in Payette with the Payette American Legion post and the Nation Guard in charge.

Born in Payette on October, 10, 1917, he was a veteran of World War II. He married Mary Makinson on September 19, 1945, at Boise. After living many years in Payette, he moved to Pendleton in 1953. He was a member of the Presbyterian church, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Beneficent and Protective Order of Elks.

Besides his wife, Mary, Pendleton, he leaves a son, Dennis Stroup, two daughters, Marilyn and Darla Stroup, all of Pendleton; three sisters, Mrs. Lois Johnson, Parma, Mrs. Bethe Johnson, Boise and Mrs. Annabell Fuller, Jerome.
