Bessie Loretta Burgess, 86, Fruitland, died Oct. 28 in Show Low Ariz. Funeral services were 2 p.m. Nov. 1 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Fruitland First Ward. Burial followed at the Rosedale Memorial Gardens in Payette, under the direction of the Haren-Wood Funeral Chapel, Payette.

She was born in Frankburg, Alberta, Canada, on Jan. 31, 1913. When she was 6-years-old, she moved with her family to Weiser, Idaho.

She grew up in Weiser and then moved to Salt Lake City, where she attended business college.

While she was in Salt Lake City she became reacquainted with a young man also from Weiser, Raymond O. Burgess and they married a year later on Jan. 5, 1938. She became a citizen of the United States in 1952. She and her husband moved back to Middleton, Idaho, in 1979 and then to Fruitland in 1991.

She remained in Fruitland and lived with her daughter until September 1999, when she moved to Show Low, Ariz., to live with her son and his family. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had played piano in the primary and the relief society.

She is survived by her children: Dd Thompson of Stevenson, Wash.; J'Deane Edvalson, Fruitland; Kaye Burgess of Snowflake, Ariz.; David Burgess, Show Low, Ariz.; Sheila Russell of Snowflake, Ariz.; John Burgess, Fruitland and Nola Edvalson of Spokane, Wash.; one brother, Bill Frank, France; two sisters, Rose Anderson of Weiser and Olive Ragsdale of Boise; 35 grandchildren and 47 great-grandchildren.
