Lester William "Les" DeShazer

Lester William "Les" DeShazer, 84, Payette, died July 17, 1999 in a Boise hospital from complications following surgery. Funeral services were Monday at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, Payette with Ivan Simonsen officiating. Interment will follow at Rosedale Memorial Gardens, Payette. Service and arrangements are under the direction of Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, Payette.
Les was born on April 9, 1915 in Bonilla, S.D., a son of Edna Vera King and Roy Elmer DeShazer. He was raised and educated in Lewellan, Neb. Les married Dorothy Wolford in 1937, who died in 1938, leaving an infant son, Gary. Les moved to Idaho later in 1938 and married Isabelle Wells in 1940.
He worked in the local box during the war years, farmed in the Payette area then worked at Marshall Fixture in Payette. He also was plant manager for Boise Cascade Redimix in Ontario, Ore., and then retired after 20 years for FMC Seed Research Corporation in Ontario in 1997.
He was a long time member of the First Baptist Church in Payette where he served as a deacon trustee and on many committees in the church.
Les is survived by his wife of nearly 59 years, Isabelle, and his three children; sons, Gary (Sharon) of Wilder, Idaho and Roy (Beverly) of Belleville, Ill. and his daughter, Dianne (Larry) Moore of Crescent, Ore.; his sister, Mildred Smith of Coos Bay, Ore.; a brother, Vern (Norma) of McMinnville,Ore.; sister Roberta (Robert) Price of Wenatchee, Wash.; sister Maxine (Howard) Sams of East Side, Ore.; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Les was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy DeShazer, one sister, Wilma and three brothers, Larry, Russell and LeRoy.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the building fund for the First Baptist Church, Payette in care of Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, P.O. Box 734, Payette, ID 83661.
