Fifteen Year Old Youth Dies

Richard Jeremiah (Jerry) 15 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. William V. Murphy, died at the family home here last Thursday evening following two years illness with rheumatic fever.

Funeral services were held at the Baptist church Monday with Rev. Paul Felthouse giving the sermon. Interment was in Rosedale Memorial park with Landon's in charge.

Jerry as he was called was born at Weiser, Oct. 20, 1930. He came to Payette with the family in October, 1931 and continued to reside here up until the time of his death. He attended the East Side grade school in this city and was graduated from the eight grade in May, 1944. He took ill a few months later and was never able to continue on to high school.

He joined the Boy Scouts in April, 1943 and became patrol leader of Troop 48, He later served as a den chief of Cub pack until his illness.

He was baptized in the Baptist church in 1943 and was an active member of the BYPU.

Besides his parents he is survived by a younger brother, James, his great-grandmother, Mrs. Emma Jones of Fruitland, grandmother, Mrs. Lillian Lees of Ontario and grandfather, William V. Murphy Sr., of Scotts Bluff, Neb. and many other relatives.
