Charles H. Nelson, Prominent Little Willow Rancher, Dies at 80

Charles H. Nelson, 80, prominent Little Willow Creek rancher and stockman and a long-time resident of the Payette community, died suddenly early Monday morning at his home here.

He was born in Boone, Iowa, Feb. 22, 1884. He came west on the railroad in 1910 and stopped in Payette and decided to remain here. He homesteaded on Little Willow Creek and had ranched at the same location ever since.

In 1947, he and Mrs. Nelson moved into Payette but he continued to farm and had been active until his death.

He was a member of the Baptist Church, the Orchard Avenue Grange and the Oddfellows Lodge.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Cora Nelson of Payette; one son, Kenneth Nelson of Boone, two daughters, Mrs. LaVonne Godschalx and Mrs. Eunice Kauffman, both of Payette; one brother, Robert F. Nelson of Nampa and nine grand-children.

Services were held here Wednesday at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. William Clark officiating. A great many friends and relatives attended the funeral. Interment took place at Rosedale Memorial Park under the direction of Shaffer Memory Chapel.
