WASHOE SLOUGH CLAIMS YOUNG LIFE

Two Year Old Daughter Of Robert Rose Is Drowned

Robert Rose, Washoe rancher, rescued the lifeless body of his two year old daughter, Elizabeth Jane, from the Washoe Slough last Monday evening. In the hope that the child might be revived, Rose immediately rushed the child to the Payette fire department headquarters where the inhalator and medical assistance failed to revive her. Funeral services were conducted on Wednesday evening of this week under the direction of the Landon Funeral home. Interment took place at Riverside cemetery (should be Rosedale) with Rev. Splinter officiating.

According to friends of the family it seems that all of the children were present at the evening meal following which the parents went to milk the cows. On their return Elizabeth Jane was missing and a search on the part of her parents disclosed her lifeless body in the slough. The child was immediately rushed to Payette and members of the Payette fire department spent over two and one half hours in an effort to revive her without effect. Members of the department who made such a heroic effort to save the life of the child included; Mervin Lundstrum, Warren Dorathy, Clyde Scholes, Glenn Levers, John Sirventes, Miles and Clarence Fayson, Dale Watts, Merle Doan, and Harley Lowe and Nels McRae.

Elizabeth Jane Rose, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert W. Rose was born at Kemmerer, Wyoming on August 4, 1937 and since September of the same year has resided with her parents on the Smith ranch in the Washoe section. she is survived by six brothers and four sisters.
