Thirl Joyce Strong, 60, Payette, passed away March 16, 1997 at home after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the First Nazarene Church, Payette. Pastor Mike Allen of the Payette First Nazarene Church will officiate. Burial will follow at Rosedale Memorial Chapel, Payette, under the direction of Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, Payette.

Thirl was born Nov. 16, 1936 at Kenesaw, Neb., to Herbert and Ursula Lilly. She resided many years throughout her life in Payette, including her high school years and the past 20 years. Thirl worked for Idaho Power at the Payette office for 15 years, retiring in 1994.

Thirl will be remembered always as a wife, mother, friend, who displayed unconditional love to her husband, family and others, as she followed the example of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Thirl had a desire to be a missionary and surely it was fulfilled through her many services and charitable giving back to her community. She had a life-long love of music and played the piano and sang in church services and other ministries.

Survivors include her husband, Elmer of Payette; a daughter, Lynell Soladay; three sons, Greg Harmon, Dwight Harmon, and Murray Harmon and their spouses; the children's father, Robert E. Harmon; two stepsons, Royce Caldwell and Ron Strong and their spouses; a brother, Dale Lilly and his spouse; eight step-brothers and sisters; 12 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Thirl was preceded in death by her parents.
