Fruitland (2,225 alt.; 800 population). On US 30 and a branch of the UP RR, 5 miles south of Payette, this town is surrounded by orchards and by vegetable and hay and grain acreages. It has eight packing plants, and has recently completed a new cannery to handle asparagus, corn, and tomatoes. Fruitland ships more apples than any other community in the State. It has schools, several churches, and a farmers' co-operative telephone company.
