Sarah Jane Manis, pioneer resident of Payette county, passed away at Big Willow on May 24. Mrs. Manis was born in Missouri on January 31, 1854 and had been a resident of Idaho for the past forty years. She had been a widow for over fifty-three years. Deceased is survived by three children, Mrs. J. A. Matteson, of Kelso, Washington, Oliver Manis, of Fruitland and Mrs. James Applegate, of Big Wilow, also fifteen grandchildren and thirty-three great-grandchildren and twelve great-great-grandchildren. Services were held last Sunday at the Peterson-Foster Funeral home in this city with Rev. Curtis Strong of the local Baptist church in charge and interment was made in Park View cemetery at New Plymouth. Mrs. Manis has been a member of the Baptist church for over forty years.
