Marvin Edward Mess

Marvin Edward Mess, 59, Fruitland, died April 14, 1995, at home of natural causes. Memorial services will be 4 p.m. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church, Fruitland. The Rev. Earl Traughber will officiate. Cremation preceded services, under the direction of Shaffer-Jensen Memorial Chapel, Fruitland.

He was born Nov. 25, 1935, at Ontario, the son of Edward and Marie Mess. He was raised on the family’s farm northeast of Fruitland and educated at Fruitland schools. He graduated in the class of 1954. He then went to the College of Idaho and Boise Junior College. After college he completed training with the Air National Guard in San Antonio, Texas. Marvin returned to the family farm which he owned and operated for many years. He worked in recent years with the fine people at American Fine Foods of Payette. He married Nedra Fletcher on April 22, 1961, at Ontario. They raised their two sons at Fruitland. Marvin was a member of the A.F and A.M., Washoe Lodge #28, Payette, and a past member of the Elks Lodge, Ontario.

He was a noted woodworker. He played drums in a number of musical organizations in the valley. He was active in 4-H and as a Fruitland Booster.

Survivors include tow sons, Leonard Mess of Boise, and Greg Mess of Portland; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Betty and Eggert Oft of Ontario, and Barbara and Paul Fredricksen of Portland, and three nieces and two nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a niece.
