Russell Gilbert Kelpin, 79, of Payette, passed away Saturday, June 9, 2007 at a Payette care center. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, June 14, 2007 at Riverside Cemetery, Payette. A visitation for family and friends will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Wednesday, June 13, 2007 at Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, Payette.
Russell was born on August 4, 1927 in Grass Valley, California, to Paul and Elsie Kelpin. He attended Payette schools.
Russell served in the Army during World War II and later reenlisted to serve during the Korean War. Russ was proud of his military service and was a member of the VFW in Ontario. He loved to display the American flag and did so in a variety of ways. He later worked at Josephsen's Produce and Ore-Ida.
Russell is survived by on brother and three sisters, all of Payette. They are Arthur Kelpin, Lucille (Jim) Bischoff, Marion Cochran, and Erma Ledington. Russ also leaves a son, Ray and a granddaughter.
