Iris A. Musgrove, 88, Boise, formerly of Payette, passed away Sept. 11, 1999. She celebrated her birthday in the grandest of styles when she went home to be with her Lord and Savior on her 88th birthday. Services were Sept. 14, at 1 p.m. at St. John's United Church of Christ, 350 N. 4th St. Payette, under the direction of Haren-Wood funeral chapel, Payette, Idaho. Burial followed at Rosedale Memorial Gardens in Payette.
Iris was born Sept 11, 1911 in a dugout on the plains of eastern Colorado near the town of Holly, Colo. She was the youngest daughter of John W. and Lizzie Bell Coats. Iris and her family came west to Boise, Idaho in 1913. They also spent time living at New Meadows, Idaho before moving to the Oregon Slope in 1917 where she attended Park Union School and Ontario High School. Upon graduation, she attended Link's School of Business in Boise. She moved to Payette in 1929 and worked in the office of Farmers Coop Creamery.
She married Byron Franklin Musgrove on Sept. 20, 1931. While raising their family, Byron and Iris worked together managing the IGA store. In 1946, they opened Byron's Variety and operated it until Byron's death in 1968. Iris then worked at various offices and drug stores in Payette and Ontario. In 1990, Iris moved to Boise to be closer to family members, but friends and acquaintances continue to reminisce about her beautiful summer flowers and magnificent Fall Sugar Maple tree that she matured at the Musgrove family home built in the late 1890's. She was a member of GGS club and the First Baptist church.
Iris is survived by a daughter, Crystal Plumb and her husband, Hylon of Garden Valley; a son John Musgrove; a granddaughter, Tamara Hogg and her husband Les; two great-grandchildren, Shain Panzeri and Kelly Hogg, all of Boise; a sister-in-law, Mary Monteer and husband Everett of Weiser; two cousins, Susan Powers of Boise and Don "Buck" Morrison of Salt Lake City, Utah; five nieces; two nephews, and numerous grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff of Life Care in Boise for the loving care and comfort they gave Iris during her final days.
