Mrs. Helen Strey Called By Death

Mrs. Helen C. Strey, 76, well known resident of the Oregon Slope district died at an Ontario hospital Monday following only a short illness with a heart ailment.

Mrs. Helen Caroline Strey, nee Waltersdorf, was born in Bromberg, Germany, June 6, 1870. In infancy she was baptized in the Lutheran faith. For a time she went to school in Germany. At the age of twelve her parents and she came to the United States, to Creston, Iowa, where she completed her grade school training. She was confirmed and married in the same church at Creston, Iowa. On February 14, 1888, she was united in Holy wedlock with Albert E. Strey.

With family of two sons, her husband and she moved West, to Payette, approximately ten years ago. Her loving husband preceded her in death, eight years ago. She was a communicant member of the Pilgrim Ev. Lutheran church, Ontario Oregon.

She is mourned by two sons: Louis of Houston, Texas and Fred of Payette; by three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; one brother, Paul Waltersdorf of Creston, Iowa; two sisters, Mrs. Augusta Lawrenzen of Alhambra, Calif. And Mrs. John Siegel of Payette; and by many other relatives and a large number of friends. Her earthly remains will be laid to rest in the Rosedale Memorial Park cemetery, at Payette.
