FRUITLAND - Services for Kirk Baxter Strong, 88, Fruitland, who died Wednesday at a Payette nursing home, were conducted at 2 p.m., Saturday at Shaffer-Jensen Memory chapel in Payette by the Rev. Grace M. Weaver of the First United Methodist church of Fruitland. Interment followed at Rosedale.

Born July 29, 1880, in Coldwater, Mich., he moved to Lomax, Neb., with his parents when he was a child and grew up and attended school there. He married Hattie May Lawson at Lomax on December 24, 1902, and they moved to Lexington, Neb., and lived there until 1914. That year they moved to Wheatland, Wyo., and lived there until 1937, when they came to Fruitland. Mr. Strong was a retired farmer and saw filer. Mrs. Strong died in 1962. He was a member of the Methodist church.

Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Louis (Gladys) Dunn of Fruitland, Mrs. Henry (Flora) Logsdon of Island City, Ore., Mrs. Clarence (Gertrude) Barnes of Waco, Tex., Mrs. Joe (Nellie) Hodson of Santa Barbara, Calif., and Mrs. Robert (Jessie) Linden of Pasco, Wash.; 10 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. A brother and two sisters preceded him in death.
